Bluffton successful at Dick Small Invitational (Defiance College)

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University men and women's track team competed in the Dick Small Invitational held at Defiance College on March 25. The Beavers were successful as the men placed third and the women placed fourth.

Leading the men's team was sophomore SHANDON NORTH (Galion/Galion) who placed first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.30. In the 1500 meter run junior DAN ROSEBROCK(Napoleon/Napoleon) finished in second place with a time of 4:14.30. Junior STEVE MYERS(Delphos/Jefferson) placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 114'11''. In the javelin throw freshman REX BROWN (Wauseon/Pettisville) finished in second place with a distance of 146'8''.

For the women, freshman SARAH HUMPHREY (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) placed first in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 41.50.00. In the 200 meter dash senior JANA HAMMER (Hamler/Patrick Henry) finished second with a time of 27.10. Senior MICHELE BAILEY (Spencerville/Spencerville South) placed third in the hammer throw with a distance of 113'2'' and also finished third in the discuss with a throw of 108'1''. In the 400 meter dash junior STEPHANIE WELCH (Berne, Ind./South Adams) finished third with a time of 67.20. Senior AMANDA HABEGGER (Berne, Ind./South Adams) placed third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 71.5.

The next meet for the Beavers will be at the Ohio University Invitational on April 2.
