Bluffton participates at Ohio Wesleyan University

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's and women's track and field team competed at the Marv Frye Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University on April 8. The men placed ninth and the women finished fourteenth in the meet. 

There were two new Bluffton school records set on the women's side. Junior RITA MUETHER(Celina/Celina) broke the 100 meter dash record with a time of 12.75 as she finished ninth in the event. Senior MICHELE BAILEY (Spencerville/Spencerville South) broke her own school record in the hammer throw as she placed eighth with a throw of 129'1''. The 4x100 meter relay made up of  sophomore CINDY ALLAN (Fayette/Archbold), Muether, senior JANA HAMMER(Hamler/Patrick Henry) and senior AMANDA HABEGGER (Berne, Ind./South Adams) placed seventh with a time of 51.89. The 4x400 meter relay team made up of junior STEPHANIE WELCH (Berne, Ind./South Adams), Muether, Hammer and Habegger placed eighth with a time of 4:24.43.

Leading the way on the men's side was sophomore SHANDON NORTH (Galion/Galion) who placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.16. Freshman KEVIN DAVIS (Albion, Mich./Albion) finished third in the men's long jump with a distance of 21'11.5''. The men's 4x400 meter relay team made up of senior TROY BAUMER (Berne, Ind./South Adams), junior DAN ROSEBROCK (Napoleon/Napoleon), Davis and North placed fourth with a time of 3:27.90. In the javelin throw freshman REX BROWN (Wauseon/Pettisville) placed eighth with a throw of 151'6''.

The Beavers will be back in action at Ohio Wesleyan University on April 16 for the All-Ohio Championships.
