Beavers compete at All Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's and women's track and field team competed in the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University on April 16. The men placed 12th and the women finished 14th in the meet.

On the men's side freshman KEVIN DAVIS (Albion, Mich./Albion) placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.04. In the 400-meter dash sophomore SHANDON NORTH(Galion/Galion) finished third with a time of 49.56. In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Davis, North, sophomore COLBY BRIGHT (Galion/Galion), and senior TROY BAUMER (Geneva, Ind./South Adams) placed third with a time of 3:21.35. The relay team broke the school record that was set back in 1969. The 4x100 meter relay team of senior AARON WILLIAMS(Lima/Lima Senior), Bright, North, and Davis finished seventh with a time of 43.36.

Leading the way for the women was junior RITA MUETHER (Celina/Celina) who placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.70. In the 100-meter dash senior JANA HAMMER(Hamler/Patrick Henry) finished fifth with a time of 13.10. The 4x100 meter relay team of sophomore CINDY ALLAN (Fayette/Archbold), Muether, Hammer and senior AMANDA HABEGGER (Berne, Ind./South Adams) placed fifth with a time of 49.91. Habegger placed sixth in the sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.80. Freshman SARAH HUMPHREY(Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) broke the Bluffton school record in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 40:26.18. Humphrey placed seventh in the event. 

The Beavers next meet will be at Ohio Northern University on April 23.
