Beavers break three school records at Oiler Invitational

Bluffton, Ohio - The Bluffton men's and women's track and field teams traveled to the Robert A. Malcolm Athletic Center for the Findlay Oiler Invitational this past weekend. The Beavers set three new school records in a meet that included schools from Canada and Divisions I, II, and III.  The Oiler Invitational was also the site of the USA Track and Field Race Walk Championships.

Senior Jennifer Creamer (Westerville/Westerville South) and sophomore Sarah Humphrey (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) each bettered the previous 5000m school record. Humphrey crossed the finish line in 19:28.35, two seconds in front of Creamer who finished with a 19:30.28. Freshman Ashley Smith (Delta /Delta) shattered the 600m record finishing in 1:48.52. Senior Rita Muether (Celina/Celina) and Freshman Chantel Mangrum (Jackson Christian/Jackson, Tenn.) each ran the 400m crossing the line in 1:06.10 and 1:07.53 respectively. Senior Kirstie Dravenstott (Smithville/Smithville) cleared 4'11'' in the high jump finishing as the top Division III performer.

Junior Shandon North (Galion/Galion) added another record-breaking performance to his season with an outstanding in the 600m, crossing the line in 1:25.96. Junior Chris Dubenion (Westerville/Westerville South) threw a career best  35' 5.50" in the weight throw while senior Colby Bright (Galion/Galion) ran a 52.70 400m.  Junior Johnny Ichrist (Toledo/Whitmer) came in with a 2:05 in the 800 and junior Jordon Bruner (Wauseon/Pettisville) ran a 2:45 in the 1000m.

The Bluffton men's and women's track and field teams will return to action on February 4th at Anderson.
