Bluffton women place 4th, men 6th at ONU Friday Night meet

Bluffton, Ohio - The Bluffton Track and Field teams competed in the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series Meet # 3 last Friday, February 10. The women placed fourth out of six teams scoring 78 points, while the men finished sixth with a score of  11 points. Both the men and women were without some of their runners as they were competing in the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, February 11.

On the women's side, the Beavers had three event winners. Senior RITA MUETHER(Celina/Celina) took home the crown in the 400m, winning the race with a time of 1:05.58. Senior KIRSTIE DRAVENSTOTT (Smithville/Smithville) tied her personal best with a leap of 5'1", good for first in the high jump. Freshman KARYN DAVIS (Liberty Center/Liberty Center) picked up her first collegiate win in the shot put with a throw of 33'2.5", while fellow frosh ASHLEY SMITH (Delta/Delta) placed second in the 800m with a time of 2:36.06. Junior JENNIFER LEHMAN (Berne, Ind./South Adams) finished third in the 55m hurdles crossing the line in 9.73, while sophomore BREE FETTERMAN (North Royalton/Padua Franciscan) ran a 20:45.19 in the 5000m good for third.

Sophomore REX BROWN (Wauseon/Pettisville) and senior CHRIS DUBENION(Westerville/Westerville South) finished fifth and sixth in the shot put as Brown had a throw of 36' and Dubenion threw a personal best 35'8". Sophomore HILARY SHILOSIO (Eldoret, Kenya) finished sixth in the 5000m with a personal best time of 17:33.61.
