Beavers compete at Dick Small Invite

Bluffton, Ohio - The Bluffton men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Defiance College this past Saturday for the annual Dick Small Invitational. The women finished sixth out of 12 while the men placed 10th of 14.

Sophomore SARAH HUMPHREY (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) and senior JENNIFER CREAMER (Westerville/Westerville South) carried their dominance to the 10,000m this week.  Humphrey crossed the line in 40:22.11, good for first, and she was followed closely by Creamer who finished second with a time of 40:33.04. Freshman KARYN DAVIS (Liberty Center/Liberty Center) finished fourth in the shot put with an impressive toss of 9.98m.  Senior RITA MUETHER (Celina/Celina) placed fifth in the 200m racing across the line in 28.11.

On the men's side, sophomore REX BROWN (Wauseon/Pettisville) continued to excel in the javelin as he won the contest with a career best toss of 51.30m. Senior DAN ROSEBROCK(Napoleon/Napoleon) placed second in a packed 800m field, as he finished in 1:59.72. The men's 4x400 team of Rosebrock, juniors JOHNNY ICHRIST (Toledo/Whitmer) and SHANDON NORTH (Galion/Galion), and sophomore TYLER FAIRCHILD (Toledo/Whitmer) finished fourth with a time of 3:32.23.

The Beavers return to action on April 1st when they will host the Beaver Invitational.
