Bluffton hosts Beaver Invite

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Beaver Invitational on Saturday, April 1, 2006.  The women finished second while the men placed third.

Freshman KARYN DAVIS (Liberty Center/Liberty Center) won the shot up with a personal best toss of 11.78m and then took the hammer throw with a toss of 30.90m. Senior RITA MUETHER(Celina/Celina) also had a big day winning the 100m in 13.27 and then taking second in the 200m with a time of 27.39. Senior KIRSTIE DRAVENSTOTT (Smithville/Smithville) won the high jump clearing 1.47m. Sophomore SARAH HUMPHREY (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) edged out senior JENNIFER CREAMER (Westerville/Westerville South) in a photo finish in the 5000m.  Humphrey took second, crossing the line in19:20.23 and breaking the school record. Creamer was right behind her finishing third with a time of 19:20.25. 

On the men's side, junior SHANDON NORTH (Galion/Galion) was the Beaver's lone event winner taking the 400m in a time of 49.55. Senior COLBY BRIGHT (Galion/Galion) finished second in the long jump with a leap of 6.15m. Junior JOHNNY ICHRIST (Toledo/Whitmer) battled his way to a second place in the 800m, finishing right behind the leader with a time of 2:00.554

The Beavers return to action on April 7th, when they will travel to Ohio Wesleyan for the Marv Frye Invite.
