Beavers compete at Division 1 meets

TOLEDO, Ohio - Four Bluffton University track and field athletes placed at Division I races over the weekend. Senior RITA MUETHER (Celina/Celina) ran the 200 meter dash and the 100 meter dash at the Toledo Rocket Open on Friday, May 5, 2006. Sophomore REX BROWN(Wauson/Pettisville) also competed at the Rocket Open in the javelin. Senior COLBY BRIGHT(Galion/Galion) and junior SHANDON NORTH (Galion/Galion) ran the 400 meter dash at the Jessie Owens Track Classic on the campus of the Ohio State University on May 6, 2006. 

Brown's performance was the highlight of the weekend as he won the javelin with a throw of 163 feet, 9 inches. Muether took home fourth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.01; she also garnered a sixth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.26. Bright and North both ran the 400 meter dash. Bright took 14th place with a run of 49.76 and North finished 15th with a time of 49.84. 

North and Bright will now compete at the Dr. Keeler Invitational on the campus of North Central College. The meet is scheduled for May 11-12 with both Bluffton athletes running on the 12th.
