All - Ohio Outdoor Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams traveled just north of Columbus to Ohio Wesleyan University to compete at the All-Ohio Division III Outdoor Championships on Saturday, April 12, 2008. The men placed 13th of 20 teams while the women finished 17th against the best competition in the state.

Bluffton senior REX BROWN (Wauseon/Pettisville) took Bluffton's lone first place finish in the javelin with a throw of 169-07 feet for 10 points.

Sophomore JASON FISHER (Rockford/Parkway) racked up the remaining 13 points the men's team posted for the day. Fisher placed second and set a new personal-record in the hammer throw with a toss of 153-02 feet. Fisher also placed sixth in the javelin (156-03) and collected two more points with a seventh place finish in the shot put (46-01.25).

SARAH HUMPHREY (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) led the women's team with four points in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Her time of 12:26.94 was nearly 20 seconds better than the school record she set at the Beaver Invitational two weeks ago and it was good for fifth place. KARYN DAVIS (Liberty Center/Liberty Center) took eighth place in the shot put with a season-best throw of 36-03 feet.

ASHLEY SMITH (Delta/Delta) narrowly missed placing in the 400 meter dash with her 10th place finish. She set a new PR with a time of 1:01.93. Freshman PAIGE CORESSEL(Wauseon/Wauseon) shattered her personal record by 10 feet in the javelin with a throw of 90-01 feet.

The track and field teams return to action when Bluffton travels to Manchester College to compete in the Spartan Classic on Saturday, April 19, 2008.
