Beavers compete at Northwest Ohio Invitational

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams participated in the Northwest Ohio Invitational on Friday, January 23, 2009, on the campus of the University of Findlay. The Beavers were matched up against a tough field of competition, including such powers as Findlay, Ashland University and Ohio Northern University.

Senior Ashley Smith (Delta/Pike-Delta-York) took a second place finish in the 300 meter dash with a time of 44.06 for Bluffton's top placement at Findlay. Bluffton's Megan Koch (Elida) finished in seventh place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.81.

Both Kayla Pickering (Jamestown/Greenview) and Karyn Davis (Liberty Center) had a good showing in the women's shot put. Pickering placed sixth with a throw of 36-09.50 feet, while Karyn Davis' throw of 36-02.75 feet was good for seventh place. In the men's shot put, Jason Fisher (Rockford/Parkway) also took seventh place with a distance of 47-11.25 feet.

The Beavers will next be in action at the University of Findlay Classic which takes place January 30-31.
