Beavers compete in University of Findlay Classic

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's and women's track and field team traveled to nearby Findlay, Ohio, to take part in the Findlay Indoor Track and Field Classic. The event was a two-day competition (January 30-31), drawing schools such as Defiance, Adrian, Malone, Valparaiso and Ashland.

In the 200 meter dash, Bluffton's ASHLEY SMITH (Delta/Pike-Delta-York) finished 23rd out of 59 competitors with a time of 28.02. Sophomore MEGAN KOCH (Elida) placed 14th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:06.30, just three seconds from a top-ten time.

In the women's shot put, senior KARYN DAVIS (Liberty Center) had a toss of 35-03.75 feet which was good for 28th place out of 56 throwers. Bluffton's KAYLA PICKERING(Jamestown/Greenview) finished just behind her teammate, placing 30th with a distance of 35-00.25.

ROBERT JOHNSON (Columbus/Marion Franklin) represented Bluffton in the men's 200 meter dash, placing 29th out of 80 sprinters. Johnson clocked in with a time of 23.72. Both of the Timpe's ran in the 800 meter run. MICHAEL TIMPE (Swanton) placed 20th with a time of 2:10.72. BRIAN TIMPE (Swanton/Pike-Delta-York) finished in 26th place with a time of 2:12.32.

Junior JASON FISHER (Rockford/Parkway) had a throw of 47-07.25 feet in the men's shot put, which was good for 11th place out of 41 competitors. Fisher also placed 26th in the men's weight throw with a toss of 46-04.75.

The Beavers return to action on Saturday, February 7, when Bluffton travels to Oberlin College. The Oberlin Invitational is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
