Pickering and Smith established school marks at All-Ohio Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Several members of the Bluffton University men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, on January 14 to participate in the Division III All-Ohio Championships. Ohio Northern swept its way to victories in both the men's and women's team competitions.

Two members of the women's team broke school records at the event. Sophomore KAYLA PICKERING (Jamestown/Greenview) established a new mark in women's shot put with a throw of 37-00.50. The throw was good for eighth place and one point. Pickering's throw broke Marial Nash's previous indoor record of 36-09.75 which was set in 2006.

Senior ASHLEY SMITH (Delta/Pike-Delta-York) set her school record in the women's 400 meter dash, running a time of 1:02.05, which was good for ninth place. Smith's time shattered Rita Muether's school record of 1:03.10, set in 2006

Junior JASON FISHER (Rockford/Parkway) had a toss of 47-08.50 in the men's weight throw. His fifth place finished racked up four points. Fisher also got another point for Bluffton in the men's shot put with an eighth-place throw of 47-02.50.

The Beavers will next travel to the Hoosier-Buckeye Invitational at the campus of conference school Rose-Hulman on Febuary 21.
