ADA, Ohio - A limited group of Bluffton University track and field athletes kicked off Spring Break with a short trip to Ohio Northern University to compete in the Joe Banks Invitational on Friday, February 27, 2009.
Junior stalwart JASON FISHER (Rockford/Parkway) broke the Bluffton University school record in the shot with a throw of 50-10.25. His toss is also a provisional qualifying mark for the national championships and it would currently place him 20th overall in Division III.
Also competing for the Beavers were Ashley Smith, Sarah Binkley and Karyn Davis on the women's side along with Andrew Chaffee and Ben Siebert for the men.
The Beavers now have three weeks to prepare for the outdoor campaign. The team travels to Defiance on March 21 to compete in the Dick Small Invitational for the first outdoor event of the season.
