Jason Fisher takes first in shot put and hammer at Marv Frye

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's and women's track teams participated in the Marv Frye Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 4, 2009. In the event, the women's team placed 12th out of 14, and the men came in 10th out of 14 teams.

ASHLEY SMITH (Delta/Pike Delta York) continued her strong season for the Beavers as she placed in two events. Smith finished in sixth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.03 that was good for three points. In the women's long jump, Smith registered a fifth place jump with a distance of 14-06.25 for four points. Also scoring points for the women's team was freshman KOURTNEY LEWIS (Arlington/Riverdale) in the high jump. Lewis came in fourth place while posting a height of 4-09.50 and scoring five points.
 
On the men's side, JASON FISHER (Rockford/Parkway) placed in three events, finishing first in two of the three. Fisher took first and collected 10 points in the shot put, as his throw traveled a distance of 48-10.25. The junior also claimed the top spot in the men's hammer, putting in a throw of 156-06. In the discus, Jason Fisher scored four points, making it into the fifth spot with a throw of 138-00. Junior ROBERT JOHNSON (Columbus/Marion Franklin) was also able to notch a first place finish. Johnson won the men's 100 meter dash with a time of 11.00. Johnson finished just .01 ahead of the second place runner.
 
The Beavers will once again be in action at Ohio Wesleyan University for the All-Ohio meet on April 11, 2009.
