Robert Johnson wins 100 meters at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's and women's track team took part in the Wilmington College Invitational on Saturday, April 18, 2009. The men's team scored a total of 40 points, which put them in seventh place, while the women totaled 53 points for sixth.

Bluffton's DEB DAVIS (Seneca, Penn./Christian Life Academy) was able to turn in a seventh place finish for two points in the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:09.85. Freshman KATY WISBY (Lancaster/Bloom-Carroll) scored three points for Bluffton in the 100 meter hurdles, taking sixth place in the event with a time of 17.91.
 
ASHLEY SMITH (Delta/Pike-Delta-York) was able to place in three events on the day. Smith took fourth place in the 400 meter dash, running a time of 1:01.95. Smith placed sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.61, and in the long jump she came in third with a distance of 15-11.00.
 
GRACE NEEDLER (Columbus Grove) took sixth place for three points in the pole vault as she reached a height of 9-00.25. KAYLA PICKERING (Jamestown/Greenview) came in fourth in the javelin with a throw of 96-09. KARYN DAVIS (Liberty Center) was also able to place in three events. Davis claimed fifth in the hammer with a throw of 114-00, seventh in the discus at 95-06 and third in the shot put with a toss of 36-07.00. Bluffton's KOURTNEY LEWIS(Arlington/Riverdale) came in sixth place in the high jump with a height of 4-08.25, scoring three points in the event.
 
BRANDON KINDELL (Kenton) took second place in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 18.16. Junior ROBERT JOHNSON (Columbus/Marion Franklin) turned in a first place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.12, and he also came in second in the 200 meter dash, sporting a time of 22.52.
 
JASON FISHER (Rockford/Parkway) had another solid individual day as he was able to place in three events. In his first event of the day, the hammer throw, Fisher garnered third place with a throw of 160-07. Fisher also took fifth in the discus with a throw of 135-06, and fifth place in the shot put with a distance of 47-07.00.
