Jason Fisher breaks school record in hammer throw

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Three Bluffton University track and field athletes continued to compete on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2, 2009, at two separate events. JASON FISHER(Rockford/Parkway) went to the Jesse Owens Classic on the campus of The Ohio State University, while ASHLEY SMITH (Delta/Pike-Delta-York) and KOURTNEY LEWIS(Arlington/Riverdale) took advantage of the Multi-Event Meet at Defiance to take part in the heptathlon.

Fisher established a new school record of 53.06 meters (174'1") in the hammer throw and he currently stands at 15th on the national list this season. If he ends the outdoor season in the top 16, Fisher will compete at Marietta in the nationals on May 21-23, 2009.

Smith tallied 3,554 points to take second place out of seven total contestants and she was just over 300 points from the top spot on the podium. Lewis finished the meet with 2,791 points.
