Robert Johnson takes 55min title at All-Ohio Championship

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams competed at the Kenyon Invitational, an unscored meet, on the campus of Kenyon College on Friday, February 12.   

Leading on the men's side was sophomore BRIAN HECKATHORN (Hartville/Lake) who placed eighth in shot (12.40m).
 
Also competing for the Beavers was KEVIN HICKMAN (Centerburg) who placed 11th in the 400 meter dash (56.96) and 26th in the 200 meter dash (25.58). Placing in the 800 meters for the Beavers were junior MICHAEL TIMPE (Swanton) who placed 19th (2:10.61), freshman JEREMY KIDDER (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) who took 24th (2:21.54), senior JUSTIN SHEARER (Loudonville) who placed 25th (2:21.69), freshman CLINT CLARK (Lewisburg/Tri-County North) who finished 28th (2:30.53), and freshman CHRIS ARNOLD (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) who came in 29th (2:30.73). Sophomore ANDREW CHAFFEE (Clarktson, Mich./Clarkston) placed ninth in the 1000 meters (2:56.63) and 23rd in the one mile (5:05.76).
 
Leading on the women's side was junior MEGAN KOCH (Elida) who placed eighth in the 200 meter dash (28.77) and 13th in the 400 meter dash (1:07.90).
 
Also placing for the Beavers were sophomore HEATHER SMITH (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) who took 11th in the one mile (6:01.54) and freshman ALISON JANZEN (Whitewater, Kansas/Remington) with an 11th place finish in the 5000 meters (22:47.35). Freshman KIRSTEN EGTS (Rawson/Cory-Rawson) crossed the line 14th in the 55 meter dash (8.43) and 26th in the 200 meter dash (31.52). Freshman ELIZABETH BROWN (Edon) placed 16th in the 400 meter dash (1:08.93). Senior SARAH BINKLEY (Bluffton/Cory-Rawson) took 20th in the 800 meters (2:50.34). Freshman DELYAH KUBITZ (Ashtabula/Edgewood) finished 13th in the shot (9.90m) and sophomore ALLISON TRENT (Orrville/Smithville) placed 22nd in the shot (8.77m).
 
WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Several Beavers also competed in the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein College on Saturday, February 13. The Bluffton men placed 10th out of 19 teams. Ohio Wesleyan University claimed the All-Ohio title on both the men's and women's side.
 
Leading Bluffton was senior ROBERT JOHNSON (Columbus/Marion Franklin) who won the All-Ohio title in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.54, setting a new school record in the process.

Also scoring for the Beavers was senior JASON FISHER (Rockford/Parkway) who established a new school record in the weight throw (56-02.50) while placing second. FISHER also took fourth in the shot put (49-11.75).
