Bluffton competes at Defiance Yellow Jacket Invitational

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams competed at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Defiance College on Friday, April 2. The men placed fifth out of seven teams and women placed fourth out of six teams. Tiffin University's men and women both took first place.

Leading on the men's side was senior JASON FISHER (Rockford/Parkway). Fisher placed first in the shot put (50-10.75) and in the hammer throw (168-05), and placed third in discus (139-11). Senior ROBERT JOHNSON (Columbus/Marion-Franklin) led on the track with a first place finish is the 100m dash (11.13).
Also scoring for the Beavers was freshman JOSH FISHER (Rockford/Parkway), who placed second in long jump (20-01.75), and junior MICHAEL TIMPE (Swanton), who placed third in the triple jump (37-08).
 
Leading the women was sophomore MEGAN NEAL (Arlington), who placed first in the javelin (107-00), third in the hammer (133-05) and sixth in the shot put (32-00).
 
Also scoring for the women was senior DONELLE PARKER (Painesville/Thomas W. Harvey) who placed second in the 100m dash (14.82) and fifth in the high jump (4-06). Freshman KIRSTEN EGTS (Rawson/Cory-Rawson) took third in the 100m dash (15.13). Junior MEGAN KOCH(Elida) had fifth place finishes in both the 200m (28.55) and the 400m (1:05.92). Freshman ELIZABETH BROWN (Edon) placed seventh in the 400m (1:07.50). The 4x100 team of Koch, Brown, Egts, and Parker came in third (54.55).

Senior SARAH BINKLEY ( Bluffton/Cory-Rawson ) placed seventh in the 200m (29.39) and eighth in the 400m (1:08.08). Freshman DELYAH KUBITZ (Ashtabula/Edgewood) took third in the shot put (33-05.75), fifth in the discus (105-02) and sixth in the hammer throw (116-11). Sophomore ALLISON TRENT (Orrville/Smithville) placed seventh in the discus (95-10) and eighth in the hammer throw (114-09). Senior STEPH JANKOV (Wooster) placed eighth in the 800m (2:46.64).

Bluffton returns to action on Saturday, April 10, at the Marv Frye Invitational on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.
