Megan Neal wins weight throw at ONU

ADA, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams competed in the Polar Bear Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University, on Saturday, February 5, 2011. Both the men and women placed fifth overall, while host Ohio Northern University took first for both men and women.

Leading the men was junior BRIAN HECKATHORN (Hartville/Lake) who placed 4th in the shot put with a toss of 12.71 meters and 5th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.55 meters.
 
Rounding out the men was freshman RONNELL ARMSTRONG (Bexley) who placed 4th in the 55m dash (6.93), freshman DARIUS WILKINSON (Cincinnati/Hughes Center), who came in 7th in the 200m dash (24.10), senior MICHAEL TIMPE (Swanton) who took 8th in the 400m dash (55.90), and freshman JAMES WHITT (Lancaster/Berne Union) who finished 8th in the one mile (5:24.6).
 
Pacing the women was junior MEGAN NEAL (Arlington) who was victorious in the weight throw with a toss of 13.76 meters and 3rd in shot put with a throw of 9.81 meters. Also banking points in multiple events for the women was freshman KAYLA MULLENHOUR (Delphos/Jefferson) who placed 2nd in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.75, 5th in high jump with a leap of 1.37 meters and 7th in the 55m dash with a time of 8.10.
 
Rounding out the women was junior ALLISON TRENT (Orrville/Smithville) who placed 3rd in the weight throw (12.38 meters) and 5th in the shot put (9.44 meters), freshman LINDSAY KROHN (Marysville, Ind./New Washington) who had two 4th place finishes in the 400m dash (1:09.3) and in the 55m hurdles (10.55), freshman BRANDI DOMINIQUE (Wauseon) who took 5th in the one mile (6:02.33) and 7th in the 800m (2:37.09), and freshman JULIE COURT (Galion) who finished 7th in the shot put (9:02 meters) and 8th in weight throw (9.84 meters).

The Beavers will travel to Otterbein next Saturday, February 12, to compete in the All-Ohio Championships.
