Bluffton competes at Yellow Jacket Invite

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams competed in the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Cedarville University on Saturday, March 26, 2011. The men placed 12th and the women were 10th overall, while host Cedarville University took first on both sides.

Leading for the Bluffton men was the 1st place 4 x 100m relay team of sophomore JOSH FISHER (Rockford/Parkway), freshman AUSTIN CARTER (Columbus/Beechcroft), junior KEVIN HICKMAN (Centerburg) and freshman RONNELL ARMSTRONG (Bexley), who crossed the finish line in a time of 44.81. FISHER placed 6th in long jump with a leap of 19-06.25 while Carter added another 6th place finish in the 100m with a time of 11.61.

Also scoring for the men was senior MICHAEL TIMPE (Swanton) who placed 4th in the triple jump with a leap of 35-08. Junior BRIAN HECKATHORN (Hartville/Lake), who took 8th in the shot put with a throw of 42-00.

Leading the Bluffton women was junior MEGAN NEAL (Arlington) who took 4th in the hammer throw with a toss of 132-04. Junior ALLISON TRENT (Orrville/Smithville) placed 5th in the hammer throw with a throw of 125-01. Freshman KAYLA MULLENHOUR(Delphos/Jefferson) finished 6th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:13.66 and she also placed 8th in the high jump with a leap of 4-05 and 8th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.24.

The Beavers are back in action on April 1 when they compete at another Yellow Jacket Invitational, this one hosted by Defiance College.
