Megan Neal places first in javelin and second in hammer at Defiance

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams competed in the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Defiance College on Friday, April 1, 2011. The women placed eighth overall while the men took seventh. Tiffin University placed first on both the women's and men's sides.

Leading the Bluffton women was junior MEGAN NEAL (Arlington). Neal set a new school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 150-03, which was good for second place. Neal also placed first in the javelin with a throw of 94-02.

Also scoring for the women was junior ALLISON TRENT (Orrville/Smithville), who placed 5th in the hammer throw with a toss of 117-10; freshman BRANDI DOMINIQUE (Wauseon), who took 7th in the 800m with a time of 2:38.86; and freshman KAYLA MULLENHOUR(Delphos/Jefferson), who finished 7th in the 100m hurdles (17.63), the 400m hurdles (1:14.41) and the high jump (4-5.05)

Leading the Bluffton men was senior MICHAEL TIMPE (Swanton). Timpe placed 6th in the 800m with a time of 2:08.17

The Beavers are back in action on April 9 when they compete at the All-American Invitational, hosted by Adrian College.
