Megan Neal dominates conference with HCAC record hammer throw

HANOVER, Indiana - The Bluffton University track and field teams competed in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Hanover College. The women and men both placed 9th overall. Host Hanover College won on the women's side and Rose- Hulman Institute of Technology won on the men's. 

Leading the Bluffton women was junior MEGAN NEAL (Arlington). Neal placed first in the hammer throw with a toss of 161-01, which is an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark and a new record for the HCAC and Bluffton University.

Also scoring for the Beavers was junior ALLISON TRENT (Orrville/Smithville), who placed 2nd in the hammer throw (134-06) and 8th in the discus (99-11), and freshman KAYLA MULLENHOUR (Delphos/Jefferson), who took 5th in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:09.18.

Leading for the Bluffton men was freshman AUSTIN CARTER. Carter placed 2nd in the 100m dash with a time of 11.11 and 7th in the 200m dash with a time of 23.21.

Also scoring for the men was the 4x100m relay team of Carter, senior MICHAEL TIMPE(Swanton), junior KEVIN HICKMAN (Circleville), and freshman JAMES WHITT(Lancaster/Berne Union), which placed 6th with a time of 45.16.
