Junior vaulter preparing for nationals

May 17, 2016

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University pole vaulter TERRILL WEBB (Kenton) had another record-breaking weekend as she soared over the bar, set at 12' 9.5", to re-establish her school record and continue her climb up the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field performance list. Webb's clearance is currently ranked 3rd in the nation ahead of the championship meet later this month. At the indoor championship meet in March, Webb placed 6th to garner All-America honors, a position she hopes to surpass when the nation's best female vaulters meet in Waverly, Iowa, at Wartburg College on the 26th of May.

Webb, from Kenton High School class of 2013, has consistently upped her vaulting performances in her three years at Bluffton. Starting as a freshman with a best of 10' 3.25", she is now on the threshold of breaking the 13-foot barrier. Her hard work, coachable attitude and dogged determination have been the building blocks of that impressive rise in performance. Vault coach Clint Dillon (Bluffton '05/Arlington HS teacher) plays a major role in Webb's performances as well with his steady guidance and expertise. They have good communication and a coach-athlete synergy that keeps them striving whether they hit an obstacle or find success.

Webb will have a final tune-up competition starting at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the All-Great Lakes Elite Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
