Beavers honored by USTFCCCA

March 8, 2017

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the All-Region honorees for the 2016-17 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season.

To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team.

The NCAA announced final selections for the men's and women's Indoor Track & Field National Championship at North Central in Naperville, Ill. Bluffton University will be represented by senior TERRILL WEBB (Kenton) in women's pole vault. She is a 2-time All-American (indoor & outdoor 2016) as well as a 5-time Heartland Conference champion in the pole vault (3 indoor and 2 outdoor). Webb was the 2016 outdoor All-Ohio champion and the school record holder in the pole vault at 3.90 meters (12-9.5). She is a 2-time Great Lakes All-Region honoree.

Junior D'NAE REESE (Columbus/Upper Arlington) made it two women to earn All-Region honors after leading the Great Lakes in weight throw this season. She recently won the Heartland Conference title following a 2016 outdoor campaign when she claimed the discus crown. Reese is the school record holder for weight at 17.71 meters (58-1.25) as well as the discus and shot put (outdoor). She will join Webb at Nationals on Friday when Reese competes against the best throwers from around the country.

The men were also represented on the Great Lakes All-Region team as junior KYLE KNEZOVICH (Utica) made it three Beavers to be honored by the USTFCCCA. He was the HCAC indoor champion this year with a 15-5 clearance which broke his own school record and tied the conference meet record. Knezovich re-set his record several times this season en route to winning the HCAC championship.

Women's pole vault at the nationals (North Central) will be contested Friday, March 10, at 10 AM with the weight throw slated for 3 PM Central Time.
