BLUFFTON, Ohio—Bailie Barrington is a senior track and cross country runner at Bluffton University. She holds the outdoor school record in the 1,500 meters as well as the indoor records in the 600 and 1,000 meters and the mile. Graduating from Waynesfield Goshen High School in Waynesfield, Ohio, Bailie is a speech pathology major. I was able to talk with Bailie about her time at Bluffton, what made her call Bluffton home, what she learned and what prepared her for life after college.

Bailie had this to say about what led her to Bluffton, "I liked campus, the small town feel and atmosphere. My mom went to Bluffton."

Like many, Bailie did have some struggles. "I was always super busy. The hardest part is time management and staying disciplined to get the important stuff done," Bailie stated.

Being a student-athlete not only helps your socialization, but it prepares you with skills to take into your field. "I learned how to keep a healthy balance of social life, school and work, and having time for myself. I learned how to prioritize things," she said.

Bailie has made many memories over her time at Bluffton. "Setting a personal record and setting the 1,500 meter record. Being in the moment was exciting. Now that it's over, running with teammates at practice is bittersweet," she said.

Having spent four years at Bluffton, Bailie had this bit of advice for her younger teammates, "Do not take the time you have for granted. Even when the workouts suck, try to enjoy them," she said.
