Beavers take down Ohio Weslyan in three sets

BLUFFTON, Ohio - It's back to school for the Beavers as Bluffton welcomed the Battling Bishops on Homecoming week for a 'White Out' in Founders Hall. Bluffton handled the Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan in three sets (25-14, 25-20, 25-15), improving to 12-10 in the process. 

Sophomore Kristyn Hovest (Gilboa/Pandora-Gilboa) and fellow outside hitter Kendra Parmenter (Grove City) both had nine slammers. Hovest tallied just one error for a superb .400 hitting percentage. Close behind were senior Heather Schierer (Crescent Springs, Ky./St. Henry) and freshman Jenny Brown (St. Marys/Memorial) with seven bombers each. Senior Brooke Distel (Carey) and junior Bethany Behnfeldt (Napoleon) were both flawless with four and three kills, respectively. Freshman setter Mackenzie Lauber (Mansfield/Madison) handed out 34 assists.

Junior libero Hailey Phillips (Malinta/Patrick Henry) had a team-high nine digs, followed by Schierer's seven, then Lauber and junior Lindsay Krohn (Marysville, Ind./New Washington) with six apiece. 

Bluffton racked up 44 kills with just 16 errors for a .272 hitting percentage, while the visitors finished with 24 kills and 18 errors for a .065 hitting percentage. The Beavers picked up 43 digs and ripped eight service aces in the victory.

Up next, the Beavers will battle Hanover College on Homecoming Day at 2 p.m. in Founders Hall.
