BLUFFTON, Ohio - It was a GREAT DAY to be a Beaver as Bluffton honored its three seniors: Estee Arend (Paulding), Brooke Distel (Carey), and Heather Schierer (Crescent Springs, Ky./St. Henry) prior to their final regular season match in Founders Hall. The Beavers dominated Rose-Hulman, which entered the day with just one Heartland Conference loss, in four quick sets (25-16, 10-25, 25-17, 25-15). The Beavers are now 14-12 and 4-3 in the HCAC. RHIT stands 16-8 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

The freshman trio of hitters was at it once again as they combined for 39 of the team's 57 kills. Leading the team was Brooke Ruffer (Stryker) with a career-high 15 bombers. Following close behind were Kendra Parmenter (Grove City) and Jenny Brown (St. Marys/Memorial) with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Brown hit a ridiculous .647 with no errors and Ruffer smacked it a .500 clip. Freshman standout Mackenzie Lauber (Mansfield/Madison) handed out 44 assists and chipped in with five kills and no errors on just eight attacks.

Behind the service line, the Beavers went after it with eight total aces. Senior Heather Schierer and Lauber both fired two aces for the victors. Bluffton hit .379 for the match, including .552 with 17 kills and just one error in the lidlifter.

Defensively speaking, senior Brooke Distel (Carey) garnered four roofs. Junior libero Lindsay Krohn (Marysville, Ind./New Washington) led the team with 10 digs. She was followed by Kristyn Hovest (Gilboa/Pandora-Gilboa) with eight digs, Ruffer at seven and Schierer with six pickups.

Up next, the Beavers head to Defiance College to take on the rival Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The contest is slated to start at 7 p.m. in the Weaner Center
