BLUFFTON, Ohio - After a very successful weekend at Wooster, the Beavers were excited to be back at home to face The Big Red of Denison on a rare Thursday night contest in the Sommer Center. Bluffton (8-6) took advantage of its home court with a three-set pasting of Denison (6-5) on Thursday, Sept. 24.

As the match began the Beavers jumped out to a strong start, leading at one point 18-9. Hitting .323 as a team helped the Beavers clinch set one, 25-15, as senior Jenny Brown (St. Marys/Memorial) hammered home five winners.

To start set two, sophomore Sydney Mohler's (Lima/Central Catholic) tough serving helped the team to a 6-0 start. Bluffton increased its lead to 11-3 before Denison called their first time out. It slowed the momentum only momentarily as the Beavers took set two 25-13!

Coming into set three the Beavers took their foot off the pedal and it resulted in a back-and-forth affair before Bluffton finally broke away with the help of Becca TouRney's (Columbia City, Ind.) strong serving and won the capper by a 25-17 margin.

Both MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) and HCAC Player of the Week Jenny Brown led the front line with 13 kills apiece. KENDRA PARMENTER (Grove City) chipped in nine kills, while freshman setter ERIN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) finished the match with five kills and 31 assists.

Defensively for the Beavers, libero Sydney Mohler had 10 digs and two  service aces. Tossing in another pair of aces was freshman ABBY ROHRBACH (New Knoxville) who played a huge part in keeping Denison's serve receive off-balance all night.

Bluffton will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 26, as the Beavers travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the first Heartland Conference battle of the season at Rose-Hulman.. The first serve is slated for 3 p.m.
