Kleman and Posey earn All-Heartland Conference

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A pair of Bluffton University seniors have been named Honorable Mention All-Heartland Conference following the fall 2021 campaign. Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) and Cassidy Posey (Paulding) were both honored by the HCAC coaches for their work this season.

Kleman made it four straight years of being named All-Heartland Conference, including 2018 when she was the HCAC All-Freshman Team. Her 5.63 digs per set were 2nd in the conference and 3rd all-time for a single season at Bluffton. Kleman picked up 557 digs (15th all time) which was tops in the HCAC. She fired a team-high 38 aces and handed out 84 assists while hitting .131 with 26 kills.

The four-year starter at libero wrapped up her career 2nd in digs per set (4.81 DPS) and she is 4th all-time with 1,853 digs. Kleman is Coach Yarnell's 3rd defensive specialist to finish her career in the top four for digs, following in the footsteps of all-time greats Sydney Mohler and Brittany Roth. Her .374 aces per set are 10th all-time, while her 144 aces are 12th on the career list. 

Posey had her finest season as a Beaver in 2021, ramming home a team-high 277 kills with a .166 hitting percentage. She was in on 49 blocks, including 16 solos. Posey added 64 digs and fired eight aces for the Beavers. The crafty senior finished her three years at Bluffton with 437 putaways, 115 blocks and 113 digs.

The HCAC sportsmanship award was developed as part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative in 2009. Members of the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team are selected by the coaches and their teammates as individuals who demonstrate the ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field/court of competition. Nominees must have demonstrated consistently the values of respect, and integrity in his or her daily participation in intercollegiate athletics. Senior Becky Siemer (Liberty Township/Lakota East) was recognized from Bluffton Volleyball.
