Senior Dustin Kreis had the unique opportunity last summer to play international baseball with the USA Athletes International team in Regensburg, Germany.

He spent eleven days in Germany playing baseball against other international teams. The teams were from France, Germany, Australia, and the USA. The other teams were the Olympic baseball teams from their country. There was one day of practice and then they played 7 games altogether. Each team played together twice. Australia won the championship with a record of 5-2 while the US team had a record of 4-3.

The USA team consisted of about 20 people from all over the United States. Kreis was the only player from Ohio to be on the team.

"The competition was of the best teams in the world. It gives me extra incentive to perform well here since I did have the experience to go over there and play," said Kreis.

While in Germany, the players had a chance to do some sightseeing in Munich. They toured a Nazi concentration camp, the Olympic village, the Walhalla, a shrine that features philosophers and Greek gods. They also took a riverboat tour of the Rhine River.

In the 2000 season Kreis received first team all conference honors by finishing as the top player at BC with a batting average of .380. He had 35 hits and 14 runs, with 17 RBI and on base percentage was .477 with a fielding percentage of .962.

"I was really proud to be able to represent my country especially this year. I thank God for giving me that opportunity."
