Bluffton drops four games on the week

The Bluffton University baseball team (5-20, 2-10 HCAC) dropped four games in action last week.  Bluffton lost a non-conference game to Earlham 2-0 early in the week.  The team then took on Defiance in their Heartland Conference series and lost the three game set (15-1, 8-4 and 7-1).

The Beavers will be back in action on April 19 as they travel to Ohio Northern University.  The single nine inning game is slated to start at 4:00 p.m.  Bluffton will then travel to Hanover for the HCAC series.  The Panthers will host all three games the first on April 22 (start time 4 p.m.) and the doubleheader on April 23 (12 noon start). 

Senior JASON MOORE (Elida/Elida) continues to lead Bluffton in hitting.  Moore posts a .338 batting average with 14 runs on 24 hits and 12 RBI's (Runs Batted In) in 71 at bats. Junior TONY GERIG (West Unity/Hilltop) totals a .321 batting average to rank second on the team and leads the team with 19 runs and 27 hits.  Freshman KYLE WHITE (Berne, Ind./South Adams) ranks third on the team offensively with a .279 batting average.  Senior RYAN FIELY(Greenville/Greenville) leads Bluffton with 34 RBI's.

Freshman WILLIAM GERBER (Apple Creek/Kidron/Central Christian) leads the Beaver pitching staff with a 3.79 ERA.  Gerber has a 2-1 record on the mound with nine strikeouts in 19.0 innings pitched.  Jason Moore posts a 2-3 record with a 4.17 ERA, 16 strikeouts in 36.2 innings pitched.
