Hausman and McPherson named Players of Week in HCAC

March 10, 2008

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Sophomore outfielder/pitcher CODY MCPHERSON (Millbury/Lake) and junior hurler JAMES HAUSMAN (Milford/Milford) were recently named Players of the Week in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference following their performance at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

Cody McPherson rocked opposing pitchers at a .433 clip (13-of-30) when he was not on the mound himself. He pounded three home runs and five doubles for a .900 slugging percentage. McPherson led the Beavers with 12 runs scored and he finished the week with four RBI's. He was a perfect 2-of-2 on attempted steals. When McPherson was not terrorizing opponents with his bat, he was mowing them down with his arm. The sophomore went 2-0 in Florida with victories over Anna Maria and Dominican while striking out six batters and allowing six runs in nine innings on the mound.

James Hausman led the Beavers to a 12-2 victory over the U.S. Merchant Marine on Wednesday, March 5. He limited the Mariners to two runs, one earned, on five hits in 7.1 innings on the hill. Hausman finished with six strikeouts and issued just three walks while opponents hit only .192 against him. He currently has a 1.23 earned run average.

The Beavers finished their trip to Florida with a 5-5 record. Bluffton returns to action on Saturday, March 15, when the Beavers travel to Thomas More College for a doubleheader with the Saints. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
