Webb named Academic All-District

May 2, 2014

Bluffton's Tim Webb (Delaware/Worthington Christian) was recently named Academic All-District by CoSida. Webb, a four-year starter behind the dish, was named first team All-District. He was the only Heartland Conference baseball player to be honored in District 7.  Webb is the first Bluffton baseball player to be recognized as Academic All-District by CoSIDA in the history of the award.

The senior backstop has been Academic All-HCAC in both of the years in which he has been eligible. Webb is a two-time Second Team All-Heartland Conference selection. Driving a Bluffton offense that is on the verge of its first-ever Heartland Conference tournament berth, Webb has a .393 batting average with a team-high 35 RBI to go along with his 27 runs scored. Webb has amassed 55 hits this season and his 13 two-baggers are the most on the team.

To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

By earning first team honors, Tim Webb is automatically placed on the ballot for consideration on the Capital One NCAA Division III Academic All-America team which  will be released later in May. The CoSIDA All-District teams are selected and voted  on by the sports information directors who are members of CoSIDA.
