BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University sports information office will be talking to many of our spring athletes who are seniors during the month of April. They give us a glimpse back to their time at Bluffton along with what the future holds for them and their teammates.

Mike Aman is a senior pitcher for the Bluffton University baseball team. He is from Dublin, Ohio, and graduated from Dublin Coffman High School. His desire to become an intervention specialist was something that led him to Bluffton.

When asked what drew him to Bluffton, he said, "The family atmosphere of the campus, the opportunity to earn a special education degree and the people I could interact with."

Being a student-athlete in college is a lot of hard work. Challenges are something everyone has to go through. Mike said, "Always making sure to stay on top of school work can be difficult. You would normally want to hang out with friends but you have to study, which is sometimes a hard decision to make."

Choosing to study over hanging out with friends is not easy, especially after a long day at practice when you want to unwind. However, Mike was able to adjust and find a balance between classwork and socializing.

Walking the tight rope as a student-athlete also prepares you for the real world. It teaches you many skills which you can incorporate into your chosen career. Mike stated, "It taught me how to perform time management, put your all into something and that if you don't do that then you won't succeed academically or on the field."

Having been a part of the baseball team for four years, Mike has made many memories. His favorite, however, came during his sophomore year. "Making the conference tournament was a whirlwind of emotions. Being on campus surrounded by the guys on our team a whole extra week is something I will always cherish," he said.

Mike's advice to younger players and students is, "Enjoy it, always put in the work, the work will pay off, but it also goes by a lot quicker than you would imagine."
