BLUFFTON, Ohio—Alex Lemanski is a senior baseball player for Bluffton University. From Miamisburg High School in Miamisburg, Ohio, Alex is a sports management major with a minor in coaching. I was able to talk with Alex about his time at Bluffton, what led him to choose Bluffton and the memories he made.

"On my visit, it just felt like home. When we walked through campus, everyone knew my guide. I like meeting new people so it seemed like a good place to get to know a lot of people," Alex said. "The coaches made me feel welcome."

Like many student-athletes, Alex faced difficulties balancing academics and athletics. "A lot of the time I was either faced with the challenge of hanging out with friends or studying," he said. "It's easier for me to go pick up a bat and take swings than to sit in front of a screen."

Being a student-athlete helps prepare you for the outside world. One quality Alex will be able to take into his field is hard work. "If you want to be good at something, you have to work for it. It's a slow process but it teaches you to keep moving forward."

Many memories have been made during his four years as a student-athlete. One he will always carry with him is his first week on campus. "My first week on campus was my most memorable time. I was able to meet new friends. My first practice, actually getting a feel for college baseball with the friends I had made, is something I will never forget."

As his final year comes to a close, Alex does have advice for younger players. "Never feel good enough. You can give yourself props and stay positive, but you have to consistently work toward a goal. Don't get complacent, there is always someone trying to outwork you. Don't take it for granted, baseball is a huge thing for me, but it won't last forever."
