BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University sports information office will be talking to many of our spring athletes who are seniors during the month of April. They give us a glimpse back to their time at Bluffton along with what the future holds for them and their teammates.

Dominic "Doc" Campagna is a criminal justice major with a minor is sociology at Bluffton University. Doc graduated from Strongsville High School in 2015, beginning his college career at Ashland University. After a year and a half, Doc transferred to Heidelberg before finding a home at Bluffton. I was able to talk with Doc about his time at Bluffton and what led him here.

Doc was drawn to Bluffton after his previous experiences. "I came to Bluffton because I wanted to play baseball. I knew people from Bluffton, was told about the culture and it took me one day to decide."

Like many, Doc faced challenges as a student-athlete. "Getting on a good sleep schedule. I struggle with school and sometimes when we have late practice, with homework it would pile up and get late. Also, getting a lunch in between class, lifting, individuals and practice was tough."

Student-athletes learn many valuable lessons and skills they can take with them following their days on the diamond. For Doc, developing his people skills as a student-athlete has helped ready him for his field, including, "Furthering development of my people skills and being a part of a team along with the mental aspect of keeping your composure."

Spending time at three different colleges, Doc has made a host of memories. His favorite came two years ago at Bluffton. "The dog-piling after clinching the conference tournament sophomore year and Colin Gregory's grand slam is something I will never forget," he said.

Through Doc's many experiences, he has gained wisdom to impart on his younger teammates. "Time will fly, whether you think it will or not. Get some sleep and swing hard in case you hit it," he said.
