Bluffton, OH—Sam Krizek is a senior baseball player for Bluffton University. From Cleveland, Ohio, Sam graduated from Columbia High School. Sam is a writing major with an English minor. I was able to talk with Sam about his time at Bluffton, what drew him to the school and what experiences prepared him for his career.

When Sam visited Bluffton's campus over four years ago, he said, "When I first stepped on campus, it felt like home and I knew I wanted to spend the next four years of my life here."

Many challenges arise for student-athletes. Sam's challenges centered around time management. "Time management was my biggest challenge," he said. "There were some days I would leave my room at 8 A.M. and would not get back until 6 P.M. or after. Finding a time to be social, get to class and baseball was challenging."

Being a student-athlete has prepared Sam for his future career by teaching him to think on his feet. "Being able to think on my feet and adapt to the situation. Not waking up with a set schedule and having to adapt," are skills he has honed as a college athlete he said.

As a student and baseball pitcher for the past four years, Sam has made many memories. His favorite came near the end of his sophomore year. "Making the conference tournament is something I will never forget," he stated.

Sam's advice to younger teammates is, "Make the most of your time at Bluffton. You have to make your own fun and have to make the most of your time here."
