Headlining the 2009 All-HCAC squad from Bluffton was first team specialist Todd Trotter (Cincinnati/Aiken University). The sophomore kick returner was a two-time Heartland Conference Player of the Week, both times after taking kickoffs back for touchdowns. Trotter returned 41 kicks for 909 yards with scoring returns of 80 and 86 yards. In addition, he hauled in 13 receptions for 144 yards on the offensive side of the ball. Trotter led the Beavers in all-purpose yardage with 1,023 yards (102.3 ypg).

 

Sophomore Jason G. Johnson (Cleveland/Collinwood) was the lone second team All-HCAC selection for the Beavers in 2009. Johnson paced the Bluffton rushing attack with 396 yards on 134 carries this season. The tailback ranked third for the Beavers with 18 receptions out of the backfield for 197 yards. Johnson scored four touchdowns on the ground and he also hauled in a scoring reception for the Beavers while racking up a team-high 30 points. Opposite of first team selection Todd Trotter on kickoffs, Johnson tallied 265 yards on 15 returns for a total of 858 all-purpose yards.

 

Senior safety Brandon Herr (Bluffton) collected his third consecutive honorable mention All-HCAC award for the Beavers. The local product ended the season as the sixth-leading tackler for Bluffton with 46 stops, including 30 solos. Herr finished with 4.5 tackles-for-a-loss for 13 yards. He finished with four pass breakups and forced a fumble in his final campaign as a Beaver. Herr ended his career with 176 tackles, including 105 solos and eight TFL's. He finished with 10 breakups, four pickoffs, two forced fumbles and one blocked kick while being a mainstay in the Bluffton secondary.

 

Sophomore free safety Steve Sealscott (Van Wert) garnered his second straight honorable mention All-HCAC selection in 2009. He racked up 38 tackles (21 solos) while playing in nine games. Sealscott broke up one pass after leading the team with 71 stops during his freshman campaign. After just two seasons at Bluffton, Seaslscott has accumulated 109 tackles, four breakups and two forced fumbles.

 

Sophomore Shane Hubbard (Johnstown/Big Walnut) broke into the starting lineup to open the 2009 season and the move paid immediate dividends. The standout linebacker paced the Beavers with 84 tackles, including 40 solos. Hubbard stuffed opposing offenses with three TFL's, one sack and four breakups. He has amassed 132 tackles, 4.5 TFL's and five breakups in just two seasons with the Beavers while being selected honorable mention All-HCAC.

 

Sophomore Justin Crosier (Columbus/Hamilton Township) ended the 2009 season as the third-leading tackler for Bluffton on his way to honorable mention All-HCAC acclaim. He punished opposing runners to the tune of 55 tackles with 32 of the solo variety. Crosier led the Beavers with 6.5 TFL's for a loss of 26 yards, including two sacks. He blocked a kick and had a quarterback hurry to his credit. After two seasons with the Beavers, Crosier has accumulated 100 tackles, 15 TFL's and two quarterback hurries.

 

Sophomore offensive lineman David Mango (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) took home his first All-HCAC honorable mention award following the 2009 season. Mango, in his second season as a starter for the Beavers, helped open the holes for second team selection Jason G. Johnson and freshman tailback Tevin Hale (Latty/Wayne Trace).

 

Sophomore Ross Shoup (Apple Creek/Waynedale) paced Bluffton's receiving corps with 24 catches for a team-high 322 yards (13.4 yards per catch). He hauled in two touchdowns while averaging 35.8 receiving yards per contest. Shoup also returned seven punts for 39 yards this season on his way to honorable mention All-HCAC recognition.

Freshman Stephen Miller (Logan ) cracked the starting lineup late in his first campaign at Bluffton and he was rewarded by the Heartland Conference coaches for his efforts on the gridiron. The defensive end racked up 35 tackles, including 14 solos. Miller paced the Beavers with four sacks for a loss of 26 yards. He finished with 5.5 TFL's for 33 yards despite starting just the final four contests this season.
