Roberts to undergo knee surgery Wednesday

January 2, 2001

Bluffton College senior Jeremy Roberts (Bucyrus/Wynford) will undergo knee surgery on Wednesday, January 3, to repair torn cartilage in his left knee.

Roberts suffered the injury in last Thursday's practice and had an MRI on Friday. The MRI revealed significant damage to the lateral cartilage, but according to BC head athletic trainer Phill Talavinia, the full extent of the injury will not be known until the surgery has been completed. At that time it will be known if Roberts will be able to return to action this season.

Roberts was Bluffton's and the Heartland Conference's leading scorer the last two seasons and was on pace to accomplish that feat again this season. He was averaging 23.1 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game through ten games. He has scored 1,399 points at Bluffton, which ranks eighth on the all-time list.
