Bluffton College senior basketball player Jeremy Roberts (Bucyrus/Wynford) underwent knee surgery on Wednesday, January 3 to repair torn knee cartilage. The surgery, performed by Dr. Mark McDonald at the Orthopaedic Institute of Ohio in Lima, was successful but revealed significant damage to the knee.

Roberts, last year's Heartland Conference Player of the Year, will begin rehabilitation soon, but according to BC head athletic trainer Phil Talavinia, it is not known at this time if Roberts will be able to return to action this season.

Roberts led the HCAC in scoring the last two seasons and was well on his way to accomplishing that feat this season with 23.1 points per game through Bluffton's first eight games. Roberts also averaged 6.0 rebounds per game and was shooting 58.4% from the field.

Roberts had moved into eighth place on the Bluffton College career scoring list with 1,399 points. The injury occurred on Thursday, December 28 during a drill in practice.

Behind Roberts Bluffton jumped out to a 6-2 record and continued their winning ways after Roberts' injury as the Beavers won last weekends' McDonalds of Bluffton Holiday Tournament to improve to 8-2. BC fell at Mount St. Joseph Wednesday night in their first Heartland Conference game of the season.
