Elsass' career-high 29 propels Bluffton past Thomas More 70-67

February 10, 2001

Bluffton College junior Travis Elsass (Wapakoneta/Jackson Center) scored a career-high 29 points and Bluffton went on two key scoring runs Saturday afternoon as the Beavers notched their 15th win of the season with a 70-67 win over a visiting Thomas More College squad in Founders Hall.

Bluffton ended the first half with an 11-0 scoring run to erase a 10 point deficit and take a 31-30 lead at halftime. A 15-4 run early in the second half then enabled Bluffton to build a lead that they would need down the stretch to hold off a late Thomas More rally, which ended as Mark Klein's 3-pointer bounced off the rim as the final buzzer sounded.

Bluffton improves to 15-7 overall, while Thomas More falls to 2-19 on the season. BC is 5-5 in the Heartland Conference and will return to league play on Wednesday night at home against Anderson University at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to Elsass' 29 points, freshman Scott Remaklus (Lorain/Southview) scored 15 points and senior Chad Cramer (Bellevue) chipped in 11.

Thomas More center Corey Grace led the Saints with 18 points and 20 rebounds.
