Bluffton falls to Anderson 100-78

A 19-0 scoring run by Anderson University early in the second half paved the way for a 100-78 Raven victory over Bluffton College Saturday afternoon in Anderson, Indiana.

Bluffton trailed by just two points at halftime, 46-44, and back-to-back baskets by BC junior Mike Leimeister tied the score at 48-48 with 18:40 left in the game, but the Beavers were held scoreless over the next five minutes as Anderson rattled off six straight field goals, three of them from 3-point range, and four free throws to take a commanding 67-48 lead with 13:54 left to play.

Bluffton (8-13, 1-10 HCAC) was led by junior Derek DeNero with 19 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Bluffton led 6-0 in the early going before Anderson (13-8, 6-5 HCAC) scored nine straight points to take the lead, which grew to 13 points with 5:28 left to play before halftime. BC outscored the Ravens 16-5 over the final four minutes, however, to close the gap to two points at the intermission.

Senior Rod Overmyer scored 15 points for Bluffton, while sophomore Michael Kingsley hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points.

Anderson freshman Wegahta Ghebremichael led the Ravens with 19 points.

Bluffton will host Franklin College on Wednesday night at 7:30 in Founders Hall.
