Bluffton falls at Thomas More 88-80

Five Thomas More College players scored in double figures as the Saints took an 88-80 non-conference victory over Bluffton College Saturday afternoon in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

Bluffton closes out the regular season with a 10-15 overall record and will now begin preparations for the first round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament, which tips off Tuesday night at 8:00 at Defiance College.

Senior Rod Overmyer led Bluffton with 25 points, while juniors Mike Leimeister and Derek DeNero both scored 15 points.

Thomas More (4-20) shot 57.6% from the floor in the game as the Saints snapped a five game losing streak to Bluffton, which dated back to the 1997-98 season.

Bluffton led 23-22 with 10:12 left to play in the first half and took the lead again for three minutes early in the second half before TMC regained the lead for good with 14:01 to play in the game.

Thomas More's eight-point margin of victory was their largest lead of the game.

Senior Kevin Grey chipped in 10 points and tied a career-high with six assists.

Dustin Mulberry and Kyle Booth each scored 15 points to lead the Saints.
