Beavers split games on Week

The Bluffton University men's basketball team (3-3) won one game and lost one in last week's action.  The Beavers defeated the Kenyon College Lords 89-56 on Dec.1 and fell to Adrian College 74-64 on the road on Dec. 4. 

BLUFFTON UNIVERSITY 89, KENYON COLLEGE 56
The Bluffton University men's basketball team (3-2) defeated the Kenyon Lords (0-6) 89-56 in Founders Hall on Dec. 1.

For the game Bluffton shot an incredible 52 percent off of 34-of-65 shooting from the floor. The Beavers also led the entire contest after being tied very early on 4-4 in the first half. Bluffton was also hot from beyond the arc as they shot 56 percent from the 3-point line off of 10-of-18 shooting.

Leading the Beavers for the fourth game this season was junior Scott Bergman (Elmore/Woodmore) with 18 points. Sophomore David Patch (Minster/Minster) scored a career-high 14 points and career-high eight rebounds to lead Bluffton on the boards in the contest. Junior Simeon Talley (Columbus/Centennial) rounded off the double figure scoring with 11 points.

ADRIAN COLLEGE 74, BLUFFTON UNIVERSITY 64
The Bluffton University men's basketball team (3-3) was defeated 74-64 by Adrian College (4-0) on Dec. 4.

The Beavers kept the contest extremely close in the first half as the game changed hands twice and the Bulldog lead never eclipsed five points in the first period. At halftime Adrian would lead by four points, 38-34. Bluffton made a quick run late in the game as they squeezed the Bulldog lead to six (66-60) but couldn't make up the difference and fell by 10 points, 74-64 in the end.

Leading the Beavers on the evening was junior Scott Bergman (Elmore/Woodmore) with 22 points and four steals. Junior Michael Kingsley (Bluffton/Bluffton) posted 12 points and junior Eric Sweet (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) rounded off the double digit scoring with 10 points and led the team with nine rebounds for the game.

LEADING THE BEAVERS
Junior Scott Bergman leads all scoring for Bluffton and the Heartland Conference with 122 points and a 20.3 ppg average on the season. Bergman has accumulated 13 steals and 15 assists to lead the team in both categories.  Junior Eric Sweet leads the Beavers in rebounding with a 5.2 average and 31 total on the year.  Sweet is second on the team in scoring with 70 points and has knocked down a team high 12 blocks.  Junior Simeon Talley is second on the team in assists with 14 on the year. 

Bluffton University will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 8, as they travel to Division I Bowling Green State University. Tip off for the contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
