BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior SCOTT BERGMAN (Elmore/Woodmore) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball player-of-the-week for the week ending December 25, 2005.
Bergman led the Beavers to two victories this week as he finished with 50 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals while hitting a phenomenal 14-23 (61 percent) from the field including 6-12 (50 percent) from long distance. Scott also connected on 16-19 (84 percent) from the charity stripe.
Bergman scored a season-high 37 points on 12-19 shooting in the 72-68 victory at Marygrove on Monday night. He hit 5-9 from beyond the arc and brought down nine rebounds in that game. He followed up that performance with a 13 point and 6 assist effort in the Beavers 78-66 victory over Notre Dame College on Wednesday night at Founders Hall.
He is currently putting up 19.4 points a game, second best in the HCAC, while shooting .505 from the field (48-95), including 22-46 from three-point land. Bergman is also hauling in 6.5 rebounds per game and hitting 84 percent from the free throw line (37-44). His 4.5 assists per game average leads the conference. He has helped the Beavers to a 7-1 start which is the best opening in Bluffton University men's basketball history.
