Nate Overmyer named HCAC Player of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior Nate Overmyer (Payne/Wayne Trace) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 2, 2007.

Overmyer led the Beavers with 39 points off the bench in a pair of victories over Hiram and Franklin. He finished the week 13-of-26 from the field for 50 percent, including 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) from outside the arc. For the week, Overmyer was 5-of-6 at the stripe, with seven assists, five steals and four rebounds.

In Bluffton's 87-70 victory over Hiram, Overmyer scorched the nets for a career-high 22 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three-point land. He was 8-for-16 from the field, dished out three assists and picked up three steals against the Terriers.

The senior guard followed that with a 17-point performance in Bluffton's 96-90 win at pre-season HCAC favorite Franklin College on Saturday afternoon. Overmyer dropped in 5-of-10 shots, including 2-for-5 on triples and 5-of-6 at the free throw line.

For the season, Overmyer is averaging a team-high 14.3 points per game while knocking down 16-of-35 three pointers for 45.2 percent. He has hauled in 18 rebounds and doled out 11 assists.

Bluffton is 4-2 overall with a 1-0 mark in the Heartland Conference. The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, when they host rival Defiance College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Founders Hall.
