BLUFFTON, Ohio - THAYNE RECKER (Arlington) led Bluffton to a perfect 2-0 mark in HCAC action, including a 
stunning 70-68 upset of Defiance on Wednesday night after trailing by 16 points. For his efforts, the junior post secured a second Heartland Conference Player of the Week honor this season.

Recker, who had just seven points at halftime on Wednesday, went off for 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting in the second stanza and played all but 25 seconds in the game. His 34 points established a new career-high. Recker also pulled down 13 boards in the victory.

He finished the week with 48 points (24.0 PPG) and 22 rebounds (11.0 RPG). Recker dished out four assists and was a perfect 8-of-8 at the line in Saturday's win over Transy. For the week, Recker was 15-of-29 (51.7 percent) from the field and 18-of-23 (78.3 percent) at the stripe.

Bluffton (8-7, 4-4 HCAC) will travel to Manchester and Anderson during conference play this week. The Beavers match up with the Spartans in North Manchester, Ind., at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
