Bluffton opens HCAC Championship with a 314

BEAVERDAM, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's golf team was on top of its game during round one of the Heartland Conference championship on Friday, April 30, 2021. Bluffton is hosting the conference championship one year later than expected thanks to the 2020 spring season being truncated due to COVID-19. The 314 was just six strokes off the school record of 308 for 18 holes! It also has the Beavers in sixth place after the first 18 holes.

Leading the way with a sterling 74 was sophomore Clay Quellhorst (St. Marys/Memorial) who finished Friday just two strokes over par! He is tied for 12th heading into round two on Saturday. Also coming in under 80 was fellow sophomore Nathan Eberle (Grove City) who chipped in with a 79.

Senior Takoda Pratt (Shelby) and junior Dominic Castelvetere (Ontario) went 80 and 81, respectively, while Justin Metsker (Burbank/Wickliffe) rounded out the Bluffton five with a score of 94 in round one.

The Bluffton men will be back at Hidden Creek for round two of the HCAC Championships starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
