BC men's soccer loses two, including first HCAC match

The Bluffton College men's soccer team dropped two matches last week, including their Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener against Transylvania University on October 5th. 

 

Bluffton lost to Thomas More on Monday 4-0. Junior Derek Stemen led the Beavers with 11 saves off of 17 shots.

 

The Beavers dropped their first HCAC match Saturday against Transylvania at home 4-0. The Beavers held the Pioneers to a 0-0 tie going into halftime, but were unable to keep the Pioneers off the board in the second half allowing four goals on the day.

 

Bluffton was again led by Stemen with eight saves on 10 shots. Bluffton falls to 2-9 overall and 0-1 in the HCAC. 

 

On the season, the Beavers are led in scoring by junior Diego Rodriguez with two goals and four assists for eight points in eleven games. Senior Andrew Hornblower and junior John Lindow are tied for second on the team with each having three goals and one assist for seven points in eleven games. Sophomore Caspar Agyeman-Duah is tied for the lead in goals with three in nine games. In goal Stemen leads the team with 102 saves on 197 shots. 

 

Bluffton's next game is at Huntington at 3:30 on Tuesday. The Beavers will then return home for a 2 p.m. match against conference foe Franklin on Saturday.
