Bluffton tops Franklin for first HCAC win

The Bluffton College men's soccer team won their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the season Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Franklin College at the Emery Sears Athletic Complex.

 

The Beavers are now 1-1 in the HCAC on the season and 3-10 overall. BC will travel to Defiance College on Oct. 15 and to Manchester College on Oct. 19.

 

Bluffton opened the scoring against Franklin with an unassisted goal by John Lindow at the 31:17 mark in the first half. The game remained 1-0 until the second half when Ricky Stoner scored of an assist from Mike Moore at the 24:39 mark. Four minutes later Andrew Hornblower cleaned up around the net with an unassisted goal. 

 

After a Franklin goal, Hornblower answered right back with his second goal of the game off a double assist from Jean-Paul Tiendrebeogo and Chad Perry, who finished out the scoring for the Beavers with a goal at the 13:28 mark off an assist from Esuga Abaya.

 

Hornblower now leads the team in scoring with 11 points from five goals and one assist. Lindow is close behind with four goals and one assist for nine points, while junior Diego Rodriguez owns a team-best four assists and has scored two goals for a total of eight points.
